Also- Happy Birthday, Mom... I know that me having this jacket to stay warm will give you some peace of mind while I am away. Totally bought myself a gift on your birthday. XOXO
Over the last several months I have been shopping.. yes.. shopping for the big move. I will be the most well dressed person that I have ever been in my life. As most of you know, shopping is not my favorite thing to do. I have taken more of a liking to it after my friend Courtney introduced me to "retail therapy." Yet, even then, it is not my comfort zone. I am much more of a hunter than a gatherer. I want to find what I need and get out. However, with big boobs, a little waist, larger rib cage, no butt, short legs.... shopping is not always the easiest and you can't just get in and get out. I used to think shoe shopping was the easiest but over the last couple months that has even sucked!. Today I came to downtown Franklin to do some work on this project that I am working on and decided to go into Bink Outfitters. Usually, downtown Franklin is NOT the place to go shopping for such items, however they were having a sale. Anyone who knows me knows that I like sales and clearance racks... I mean, really, who wants to pay full price for something? After trying on a few coats a nice guy said hey do you need help. Normally, I would say no and be on my way ( As what do these people actually know about what should fit and what should not fit. Don't they just want to make a sale?) , however, I decided to say.. well yes.. actually I do (please take note I have looked at jackets all winter looking for a new one). I told him the brief plans for the move and we went on a mission.. find me a coat. He actually explained how much down was in each coat and how to tell (who would have thunk those numbers had a purpose). After we found a coat that I liked, he asked, "are you sure you want the hood?" Not only was not having the hood going to save me money, I already have the rain coat, and warm hats, and scarfs, so yea... why would I need the hood (once I get there I may think.. yes.. shoot.. i should have bought the one with the hood) ? This total stranger (talk about customer service), set out to call every store around to see if they had the one jacket in my size without the hood. No such luck. The manager wasn't going to let us get the size from the big company for the same discount.. boo. I mean if she had said yes , maybe I would want to come back even more often (she said, NO! in a bit of a snappy not so customer service way). So back to shopping.. I ended up finding a perfect Jacket- looked like a total dork as I moved my arms around and made sure that it fit good. Check this out, because of the huge sale I saved over 200 bucks on a jacket and a bunch of base layers- Good sale! You may be laughing that I actually am posting a blog on this but its a big deal. I have had the same puffy down coat that my mom found at Costco for like 8 years. Did you read that? COSTCO! 8 years. Jackets are expensive and I have never had a real purpose to get a new one. Look at me.. finding something important enough for me to break down and buy a jacket. A little splurge on myself.. taking care of me. I am very thankful to the nice guy who took time out of his morning to help me find a jacket to save me some of the typical shopping frustration. If you are out there nice guy at Binks, you deserve a pay raise and if you are in the UK, you let me know and I will return the favor of kindness (you might need to give me sometime to learn the city or I may not be of any help). Also- Happy Birthday, Mom... I know that me having this jacket to stay warm will give you some peace of mind while I am away. Totally bought myself a gift on your birthday. XOXO

Here is the official offer letter from Heriot-Watt. How exciting!!! I have to say that I feel very blessed to be offered a position at both Heriot-Watt and the University of Bristol. I am thrilled to see what both places are like. I have to say the staff at Heriot-Watt have been so helpful. Caroline Murray has been my contact in Scotland, and she is more helpful than I could have ever anticipated. I just sent her my official transcripts from Colorado State, and a copy of the official M.ED degree. She has shared with me that the information on file will help them decide who gets the limited number of scholarships. She has made sure that I am aware that it is highly competitive. This does not surprise me... and it makes me question on if I will even be one of those who qualify for such a funding opportunity. I am no scientist.. but I am a very hard worker. I hope that the panel who makes these decisions will be able to sense my work ethic and my motivation through the personal statements, letters of reference, and my educational records. I know I seem to talk a lot about funding, I will be honest- its simply where my head is at the moment. It is very scary to take such a jump like this, especially with no guaranteed funding. I know that the research is something I believe in and will be of great benefit to the Interpreting profession that I am passionate about. Be in touch!!! I am writing this from my phone.. Here is the specific prayer request. Heriot Watt has possible studentships available. They have not yet advertised but will soon. Please pray that they are in fact available and that when I apply I will be accepted. I've never wanted money to hold me back from doing anything!!! If you click on the following website and look at the building in the add (top right/brown). You can see that it is the corner of the building. If you count three of those big panoramic window corner units down.. yea that is mine- it overlooks the west side of the city. Ok.. I am finally starting to feel really excited. Today I had a conversation with a lady in Scotland- she was an absolute hoot. Here is the convo: (Use your imagination for delightful accent) Julie: Hello! Is Stacey Webb available? Me: Speaking. Julie: Oh!! Hello! I am calling you from IQ housing, I got a message that you had called. Me: I did, but I actually got it taken care of. Thank you for calling me back. I already booked a flat. Julie: Oh! That is delightful. Shall I have a look? Me: Sure.... Julie: Oh Stacey!! Your flat is one of the most fantastic flats in the building. Did you know this? Me: I did not, and are you just saying that? Julie: Oh no. It is a wonderful flat and probably should be a "gold" flat. I am not sure why it is listed as a silver. You have really lucked out on this one. You have panoramic windows of the west side of the city. You are on the third floor. It is actually one of my favorites in the building. Of course I love the ones right above you as well. Me: Wow, really- that is great news. Thanks. It was kind of a guessing game for me as I have not seen pictures of them. Julie: Well, I am so glad for you! It is fantastic. Where do you live? Me: I live in Nashville, TN. Julie: (PLEASE NOTE SHE GOT SUPER EXCITED) NASHVILLE, TN??? Really? Oh, how I have always wanted to go to Nashville! Me: Really? Julie: Yes. And you know what I would do if I went? Me: What would you do? Julie: I would buy a cow boy hat and ride a horse. Me: Ha, well Ill be here until September, you are welcome to come for a visit. I am sure we could find those things. Julie: DO you have a horse!!!??!! I bet you have a horse. Me: No, I don't have a horse, but we could probably find someone with a horse. Julie: Wow, Yes! That would be lovely!!!!!! Nashville?? Really? Nashville!!! ** It continued and she sent me a screen shot. I guess I really ought to get some boots before I leave!!! I think that might be a good idea. As after a great deal of research my gut feeling is telling me I will be accepting a position in Heriot-Watt's program in Scotland. There are several reasons behind this that I will get into a later date once it happens. However, I do still have a trip planned in May to make some of those final decisions. On another note, I did just kind of book a flat in Edinburgh. This particular company has locations all over the UK and if I change my mind I can actually transfer my reservation and go to the one in Bristol. Since they were booking up quickly I went ahead and book the room (there were only 2 of one of the floor plans left and just a few of the others that actually had decent windows!) I will be living in a Flat that is about 250 SqF. It has a small kitchen, double bed, a desk, bathroom and storage space. The buildings are all pretty new as they were built in 2010. My room is booked from September 7- July 5th. So I will be seeking freelance work in the month of July to make the money I need to continue to live while I am researching. Keep me in your thoughts around summer time this year and next year as you are looking for team interpreters!! Don't forget- you are welcome to come visit me at "The Grove."
